BERGE (MOUNTAINS) – Interdisciplinary lecture series at the University of Zurich
A series of external lecturers presented these lectures on their research activities on 14 different Wednesday evenings, from 16th September to 16th December 2009. The lectures were based around the subject of mountains, but viewed from the point of view of anthropology, archaeology, ethnology, high-altitude medicine, human geography, history of art, literature, national politics, economy, religion and environmental science. The alpFUTUR joint project, for which our Foundation is providing partial support, was described on 7th October by external lecturer Dr. Irmi Seidl. The title of her talk was “What is the future of the Swiss summer grazing areas”.

On Thursday 10th September, the SFAR presents the new ice map that was produced by a team of geologists working with Prof. Christian Schlüchter, University of Bern. This project was supported by the SFAR.
